It’s finally starting to feel like spring in the LA / OC area and I couldn’t be happier! Although fall is my all time favorite season because I’m a November baby, and honestly you can’t beat plush furs, booties, and oversized sweaters, there’s something exciting, new, and fresh about spring! Legs are out, the sun is shining, and flowers are in full bloom - also my “new allergies” seem to be acting up, but aside from that, what else could be better? Wardrobe wise, spring for me means COLOR, and lots of it! I’m really trying hard to implement a bit of brightness and color into my daily outfits while straying away from my boring neutrals - but if I’m honest, it’s hard for me! However, when I’m out shopping, browsing my favorite retail websites, or even scrolling through my Instagram feed, I can’t help but feel intrigued and inspired by all of the punchy colors and prints that are making waves this season.
I spotted this golden yellow balloon sleeve top at Nordstrom Rack out of the corner of my eye while shopping with my mom - extra 25% off red tag sale HELLO - and I immediately knew I had to have it. I ended up only paying $30 for this top, but it's marked down even lower online (you can shop my look below), and I was excited to add it to my spring wardrobe. I'm wearing a size 10 UK / 6 US for reference. I wanted to pair this fun blouse with a print that I’m currently coveting - gingham! I feel as though gingham is definitely a more subtle, yet eye catching print that I was excited to try. Funny enough, I’ve never actually owned anything gingham so this is a first for me, and I’m absolutely loving it. These shorts are from Target and I purchased them in a size larger than normal because I wanted them to fit a bit looser and more comfortable (size small for reference). Of course these were on sale as well (when do I ever buy anything full price?) and available now in-store and online. Lastly, I threw on a pair of lucite mules to complete my look. Since my top was so vivid, I wanted to tone down my footwear while making my legs look a tad longer with it's neutral fabric.
Style Tip - don’t be afraid to experiment with pops of color or spring trends! If you’re still wary, purchase cost effective items first to get a feel for them and once you’re into it, invest in pieces you can wear over and over again during these warm months! I know that lucite heels can be a bit scary, 1. They’re kind of stripper-esque lol, and 2. How can you dress them up / make them appropriate for the office? Well, I’ve found that if you’re going to do lucite, make sure that only one part of your shoe is made up of that material, i.e. just the heel, or solely the strap. Opt for a heel height of no more than 3.5 inches, and by no means do a platform! However, these are just my recommendations, so do you girl!
I hope you enjoy this sunny yellow spring & gingham look as much as I do!
